1. bar chart This is a bar chart about teen labor force participation in US and Oregon. The horizontal axis shows the years between 2000 and 2005, the vertical axis shows the percentage of teenager population in the labour force. Blue indicates the US average, purple indicates Oregon. In 2000 teenage labor force participation was quite high, a little more than 50% in the whole US and even higher in Oregon, about 57%. In the next three years participation slowly but steadily declined in the US, reached its lowest point in 2003, then it levelled out and in 2004 and 2005 it remained at the same relatively low level, just a little more than 40%.In Oregon the decline also lasted three years, but the rate went down faster and lower than in the US. The lowest point was also in 2003, with a few percents less than the US average, but in the following year the trend turned and the rate showed a slight growth. Unfortunately, there`s no data from 2005, so we don`t know whether the trend remained or not.All in all, the two data show more or less similar trends, only the rate is different. In 2005 much fewer teenagers had a job than five years ago.
2. pie chart
This is a pie chart about the ways how people found a new job in the US. The pie is divided into 7 segments, each of these segments represent a different way of finding a new job. The majority of people, 60.7%, found a job through research and networking, 16.1% through newspaper employment advertisements, 8.6 % percent of people found a job because they applied for a lower level job than their quaifications. Newspaper websites and internet job search have the same rate, 3.6%, while only 1.7 percent of the people could get a job through headhunters, recruiters and employment agencies. 5.7% of the people didn`t answer or got their jobs through other channels. To sum it up, it seems that traditional methods of job searching are still more succesful than the modern ways, like the internet or job agencies.
3. line graph This is a multiple line graph about the unemployment rate for women and men in Spain and the EU25 between 2000 and 2006. The horizontal axis shows the years, the vertical axis shows the unemployment rate. The different colours indicate the different genders and countries. Purple indicates the Spanish women, blue indicates the Spanish men, while pink and geen represent the EU25 women and men. Let`s start with the EU men. The unemployment rate was a little more than 7% among them in 2000. It remained the same in the next year, started to rise slightly in the following two years, reaching the maximum of 8% in 2003, then after a year of stagnating it started to decline, to reach the minimum point of 7% in 2006. The line of the EU women runs more or less parallel to this line, only the percentage is higher, between 10.5% and 9 %. The trend in Spain is different. For men, the rate is 8% in 2000, after a small dip in 2001 it is the same again in 2002 and 2003. Then it starts declining faster than the rate of the EU25 men, and the lowest point in 2006 is at 6.3 %. The line of the Spanish women is parallel with the line of the Spanish men, only the numbers are much higher, between 16% at its highest, and 10 % at its lowest point. In conclusion, we can say, that there were similar trends in the whole EU, unemployment of women is higher everywhere than that of men, but in Spain the difference is really big.
